Master of Malt - Mortlach 12y, 61.6%, 70cl, 300B

A punchy, cask-strength single malt from the legendary "Beast of Dufftown." Mortlach proffers a classic Speyside flavour, though the set up is far from typical; there are three wash stills and three spirit stills. Mortlach holds the honour of being the first legal distillery built in Dufftown, founded in 1823. This 12-year-old was distilled in May 2013, matured in a refill hogshead, and bottled at a mighty 61.6% ABV with an outturn of just 300 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Funky and tropical, with creamy grist, overripe fruit, candied pineapple, almond butter, and buttered oatcakes with marmalade.
• Palate: Bold and meaty with signature Mortlach weight — rich malt, toffee, warming spice, and dark fruit beneath the powerful ABV. A splash of water is recommended.
• Finish: Long and robust, with drying oak and lingering spice.
