Introduction

Linkwood distillery sits on the outskirts of Elgin in Speyside, established in 1821 by Peter Brown. It is widely celebrated as one of Speyside's most elegant and fragrant distilleries, producing a new make spirit that smells like a spring meadow — mixing cut grass, apple, and peach blossom. This delicate, floral character is achieved through crystal-clear wort, long fermentation, and slow distillation that maximises copper contact. A famous legend at Linkwood holds that a former distillery manager refused to allow even spiders' webs to be dusted away, fearing any environmental change might alter the spirit's character. Despite its beauty, Linkwood is primarily consumed in Johnnie Walker and White Horse blends, making independent bottlings highly sought-after.

This whisky was bottled by Adelphi after 10 years maturing in a refill oloroso hogshead. bottled at cask strength 56.4%. 238 bottles produced from this cask.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Dried fruits lead the way with raisins and figs. A mild, slightly bitter edge adds structure.

  Taste: Full bodied and somewhat dry. Rowan berries appear first, followed by raisins and a broader range of dried fruits, especially apricots.

  Finish: Medium long. Marzipan and white chocolate emerge alongside lingering dried fruits.
