Introduction

Ben Nevis distillery stands at the foot of Britain's highest mountain in Fort William, Western Highlands, founded in 1825 by the legendary "Long John" McDonald. It is one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries. What makes Ben Nevis uniquely fascinating is its use of brewer's yeast — it is the last distillery in Scotland to insist on this traditional method of inducing fermentation. This, combined with slow distillation, produces a distinctively bold, waxy, and slightly funky spirit with notes of tropical fruit, leather, and earthiness. Since 1989, the distillery has been owned by Nikka Whisky of Japan, and roughly 70% of production is exported to Japan.

Adelphi is widely regarded as one of today’s premier independent whisky bottlers. This 11 Year Old Ben Nevis was matured in a refill Oloroso sherry butt, developing a rich and expressive character. With notes of peach, apricot, and classic Christmas-cake fruit, it delivers a classic Ben Nevis flavour profile.
