The First Editions - Glenburgie 21y, 52.1%, 1998, 196B

Glenburgie is a major constituent of Ballantines and is fairly rare as a single malt bottling with Independent Bottlers being the source of bottlings which is what have here from Edition Spirits.

The flavour profile includes berries, apples and caramel/toffee but there is also and interesting note of wet moss, almost a little bit like damp earth. A most interesting dram.

Natural colour and at cask strength. A pure whisky as you can get, direct from barrel to bottle.

The First Editions was set up by Andrew Laing of Hunter Laing and focuses on mostly older ages of single cask bottlings of whisky that he chooses. Hunter Laing was created when Douglas Laing split down the middle in 2013 and the two brothers Fred and Stewart went their separate ways although both stayed in the world of whisky.

Hunter Laing also now has Ardnahoe distillery on Islay with one of the best views ... weather permitting... looking over at the isle of Jura.
