Mars Iwai Tradtion is a blended whisky that consists of mostly malt and some grain. The whisky is aged in bourbon, sherry, and wine barrels.
Mars distillery has actually been around for quite a while. They stopped distilling in early 2000s but started up again when the market picked up.
This Iwai blend is part Japanese grain(corn) and part Japanese single malt whisky. The name is that of the founder, Kiichiro Iwai. Their pot stills were constructed in the 1950s and are based in Nagano.
